Waste Vehicle Compactor Driver Training for existing drivers

Improve the driving & operating skills of existing Waste Vehicle compactor drivers and to bring about change in the attitudes of the drivers. This course benefits professional drivers of Waste Management vehicles enhancing them with new skills and behaviour with an emphasis in reducing the risks associated with driving.

  • Bring about change, approaches and attitudes of the drivers towards work and help to reduce the number of accidents and potential risk associated the numerous types and volumes of waste.
  • Drivers will understand the main causes of fatalities and injuries in the solid waste industry and how to prevent them.
  • Improve the technical knowledge of the drivers to operate the various mechanisms of the vehicle correctly.
  • This training programme will help drivers improve their knowledge, understanding and driving behaviour which in turn will help avoid high risk and potential harm to drivers and other road users
  • One of the main learning outcomes is to help the drivers become more aware of potential hazards, risks & conflicts involved whilst driving waste management vehicles.

Section 2

Waste Vehicle Compactor Driver Training for New drivers

The aim of this training programme is to provide new drivers & fresh recruits with knowledge and skills that will help improve their driving & operating skills and learn the rules / laws when on the road. This programme benefits professional drivers of Waste Management Vehicles in turn enhancing their skills and make them more aware about the importance of driving vehicles with complexed equipment attached.

  • To introduce newly recruited drivers in to the physical & mechanical workings of Waste Vehicle compactors and to bring about change, approaches and attitudes towards work, the work place and the community
  • To ensure that risks are reduced accidents eliminated and minor or major injuries to the drivers and users of the vehicle.
  • To improve the driving skills which will include how to drive correctly and how to operate the various mechanisms involved with compactor vehicle.
  • To provide awareness to drivers with regards to risk, daily hazards, potential conflict situations and how to portray a professional image at all times.
  • To improve the technical knowledge, this in turn helps to reduce maintenance costs.

Section 3

Specialist Equipment Driver Training including sweepers and washers and plant

The aim of this programme is to help refresh the skills and knowledge gained from the initial vehicle manufacturer orientation.

  • Knowing the machine, the learner will be orientated further in understanding the various working components
  • Pre and post vehicle checking, this will include sessions in and around what needs to be checked before and after. The session will use materials such as check sheets and practical walk around the vehicle checks.
  • Health and Safety, a key component for all vehicles, we provide knowledge and examples of good and bad Health and Safety practices including the use of PPE.
  • Safe Operating Procedures, this provides the operator with a systematic insight to the do and do nots of operating with safety always in mind.
  • Maintenance, daily and weekly maintenance activities that form a crucial part to checking whether the vehicle is fit for use.
  • Those attending this programme will have gained an insight to operating the equipment safely, which includes how to check, and report issues relating to maintenance and understand how to overcome simple operational problems when operating the equipment

Assessments for Existing and New Drivers

The aim of this assessment facility is to help organizations recruit and assess on weekly basis competent staff at operational levels. IEMS aims to provide bespoke assessments in accordance with the needs of the business and to help make better decisions when recruiting..

  • Provide assessment information to help recruit competent people and assess competency level after hiring while on job on weekly basis.
  • Reduce operational down time through providing supportive assessments
  • Identify training needs internally for those who are hired or based of skills gaps identified during existing drivers assessment.
